Woman's lawsuit says she was injured at Boomtown Belle Casino

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages against a casino for a fall.

Elaine Sterling filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Boomtown Belle Casino and XYZ Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Oct. 8, 2017 when the plaintiff was on the defendant's escalator at Boomtown Casino at 4132 Peters Road in Barataria. The suit states the plaintiff was caused injury when the escalator jerked and the plaintiff was caused to fall, while the escalator's moving steps continued striking the plaintiff on the head, resulting in great injury to the plaintiff.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by David Coleman of the Law Office of David L. Coleman II in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry Sullivan Jr.
