Teacher's sexual assault prompts lawsuit

NEW ORLEANS – A teacher at Collegiate Academies accuses a student of sexual assault.

Brenda Williams filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Collegiate Academies and Azariah Sordelet.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was sexually assaulted at the school when the student threw her against a wall and groped her. The plaintiff alleges the academy knew about the student's past violent behavior. 

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Dante J. Butler in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Nakisha Ervin-Knott.
