Woman seeks damages following a slip and fall in a Winn-Dixie

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages for a slip and fall at Winn-Dixie.

Jeanne Ortego filed a complaint on Dec. 10 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Winn Dixie Montgomery LLC and XYZ Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Aug. 9, 2017 when the plaintiff was a guest in the Winn-Dixie at 3001 Highway 90. The suit states the plaintiff was walking through the store when she was caused to slip and fall on a substance that had been left on the ground by the defendants and neither cleaned nor warned about.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to take the appropriate actions to prevent injury.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney's fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Patrick Hufft of Hufft & Hufft in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
