Woman sues Sam's Club following fall on its premises

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages for a slip and fall in a Sam's Club.

Kutina Brooks filed a complaint on Dec. 18 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Sam's East Inc., dba Sam's Club.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 14, 2018 when the plaintiff was at the Sam's Club at 3900 Airline Drive in Metairie. The suit states the plaintiff was caused injury when she slipped and fell on a puddle of water that had been left on the ground without any marking around it. The plaintiff alleges the defendant was negligent in failing to clean up the mess and failing to warn of the danger.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to take the proper precautions.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by James Guest in Kenner.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Donald Rowan Jr.
