University seeks more than $3,200 from former student

GRETNA – A university is seeking more than $3,200 from a student who allegedly failed to pay for attending a summer session.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors through Southeastern Louisiana University filed a complaint on Dec. 26 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Ifeoma P. Okpalobi.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on an open account. The suit states the defendant was a student at the plaintiff's institution for the Summer 2015 semester, but that the defendant has failed to pay for their time at the school. The plaintiff is seeking a balance of $3,264.05 plus interest.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an open account.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Kaila Hutchison of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
