Guest claims she slipped on a wet floor in an Extended Stay motel

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages, alleging that she was caused to slip and fall in an Extended Stay motel.

Sherita Harris, individually and on behalf of her minor child, filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Extended Stay America Inc., Safety National Casualty Corp. and ESA Management LLC.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place on Jan. 21, 2018. The plaintiff alleges she was a guest at the defendant's and was caused to be injured when she slipped and fell on water that was left on the ground. The plaintiff struck the concrete floor as she fell, resulting in injuries to her entire body.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to remedy an unnecessarily dangerous situation.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Shelley Hammond Provosty of Hammond Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius Regan.
