Borrower claims First St. Charles Bancshares failed to reveal true monthly payments

GRETNA – A man alleges he was unable to sell his properties due to more than $17,000 in late fees his loaner failed to disclose.

Joseph Hermo filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the 24th Judicial District Court against First St. Charles Bancshares Inc., dba First National Bank USA.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for negligence and monetary damages. The suit states the plaintiff had borrowed money from the defendant and purchased the properties of 6747 and 6749 General Haig St. The plaintiff attempted to sell the properties in July 2017, only to find there were $17,780 in late fees due that he did not know of previously. The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to disclose the true monthly payments due, which resulted in the balance owed.

The defendant is accused of negligence and monetary damages.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Christy Howley of Bowman & Howley in Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
