Deckhand sues for alleged negligence following maritime collision

GRETNA – A man claims the alleged negligence of a barge company caused him emotional distress.

Billy Morgan filed a complaint on Jan. 25 in the 24th Judicial District Court against American Commercial Barge Line LLC.

According to the complaint, on March 16, 2018, Morgan was a deckhand on the M/V Flicker when he was caused injury after that vessel was allegedly struck by a tugboat, causing it to fill with water and causing him emotional and physical distress.

The defendant is accused of negligence and failure to prevent an injury from taking place.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. He  is represented by Lloyd Frischhertz of Frischhertz, Poulliard, Frischhertz & Impastato LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen Enright Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 791564.
