Man claims he slipped on ice in Habib Grocery Store entrance

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that he was caused to slip and fall on icy steps leading up to a grocery store because of negligence.

Eric Matthews filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in Orleans Parish Civil District Court against Habibi Landmark LLC, d/b/a Habibi Grocery Store, and the business located at 9350 Haynes Blvd.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 19, 2018, Matthews was walking up the steps to Habib Grocery Store when he was caused to slip and fall on a layer of ice that had formed over the steps to the entrance. He alleges that he sustained injuries. 

The defendant is accused of negligence and failing to prevent an incident.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Kevin M. Riley of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Ellen Hazeur.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court Case No. is 19-695.
