GRETNA – A man is suing another individual who sold him a boat and then repossessed it without warning or cause.

Clayton L. Michaud Jr. filed a complaint on April 1 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Douglas Webb and ABC Insurance Company. According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that began on Feb. 14, 2017 when the plaintiff purchased a 2016 Bluewave boat from the defendant for $33,000.

The plaintiff took possession of the boat after making payment but he never was given a title of ownership. The defendant then repossessed the boat without a court order or the buyer's permission. The defendant is accused of breach of contract and sums due, trespass and conversion.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Max M. Chotto in Gretna. The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
