Man sues contractor for allegedly causing damage to his home

GRETNA – A man is suing a construction contractor for negligence and failure in workmanlike performance.

James M. Kessler filed a complaint against J.R. Chiasson dba J.R. Chiasson Drain Cleaning & Repairs on April 15 in the 24th Judicial District Court. According to the lawsuit, the defendant conducted renovations on the plaintiff's property, after which the plaintiff began to notice damages to his home. 

The damages included doors that would not close, cracks in the bathroom tile and other issues. The defendant is accused of negligence and failure in workmanlike performance. The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. 


The plaintiff is represented by Christy R. Bergeron of Riess Lemieux LLC in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
