NEW ORLEANS -- A daughter claims that her mother's death was caused by a wound care provider's negligence

Gloria Williams, daughter of Katie Williams, deceased, filed a complaint on April 30 in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans against Robert Marriot Medical Corp. d/b/a Advantage Surgical and Wound Care for medical injury. The defendants removed the case to federal court on June 22.

According to the complaint, Katie was admitted into St. Jude's Nursing Home for an extended antibiotic treatment of a state IV sacrum wound on her lower back. Advantage Surgical and Wound Care was contracted by St. Jude's Nursing Home to provide wound assessment and care, the suit says.

Gloria Williams alleged that while her mom was under the care of Advantage Surgical and Wound Care, she developed multiple pressure wounds that led to infection, the amputation of her left leg and ultimately her death on Nov. 12, 2020.

Gloria Williams seeks compensation and exemplary damages, expert fees, costs and judicial interest. Gloria Williams is represented by David A. Bowling of The Bowling Law Firm, APLC
