LAFAYETTE — A former employee is suing Alloy Manufacturing Inc. for alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Shannon Roche was employed as an hourly worker by Alloy from October 2016 to July 2023 and alleges that the company violated federal law by not compensating the plaintiff with overtime pay for hours worked beyond the 40-hour workweek, according to a complaint filed Nov. 29 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

Alloy, a metal alloy manufacturer, paid Roche a fixed hourly rate for all hours worked, regardless of surpassing the standard workweek limit, according to the suit.

Roche claims Alloy was fully aware of the FLSA's overtime requirements. Despite this knowledge, Alloy failed to implement the mandatory overtime premium for hours exceeding 40 per week.

The plaintiff claims they consistently reported hours to Alloy, and the records confirm that the plaintiff regularly worked more than the standard 40 hours.

The lawsuit contends that Alloy's payment scheme, providing only "straight-time" pay for overtime hours, is in direct violation of the FLSA.

Roche claims Alloy's refusal to pay overtime constitutes a willful violation of federal labor standards.

Roche is seeking compensatory damages. Roche is represented by Matthew S. Parmet of Parmet PC in Houston, Texas.
