A mother claims a Louisiana school board isn't providing a proper education to her epileptic child.

Erin Carter filed her complaint in federal court against the Tangipahoa Parish School Board and two individuals, Holly Duncan and Tara Kinche.

According to the complaint, the child, identified only as A.C., was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of two and is eligible for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

The complaint states A.C. was enrolled at Courtney Christian School, a private school in Hammond. Carter claims she believed all educational and special needs services would be provided to A.C. by CCS and its staff/employees. However, she alleges that there were issues with communication and planning regarding A.C.'s Individualized Education Plan.

During a meeting held at CCS in October 2021 to discuss A.C.'s IEP, Carter says no copies of any forms were provided to parents and the revisions made to the plan were not viewable to them due to their seating arrangement. She also claims she was prevented from asking about the certification of A.C.'s assigned teacher during this meeting.
