Rodney Petersen Jr. and Bobbie Petersen have filed a lawsuit against Nathan Diaz, John Doe #1, and John Doe #2 in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana. The case ID is 2:24-cv-01151-EEF-DPC and was filed on April 17, 2024. The suit alleges that the defendants caused physical harm to Rodney Petersen during an unprovoked attack.

The incident occurred on April 21, 2023, at the MF & DAZMN: X Series 006 boxing event in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is alleged that Diaz, under the influence of a controlled substance, instigated a fight with another spectator by throwing a water bottle at him. Later that evening on Bourbon Street, Diaz and his entourage reportedly attacked Petersen who was trying to diffuse the situation.

Petersen claims he was choked and punched by Diaz before being joined by John Doe #1 and John Doe #2 who targeted his vital organs. As a result of this violent attack, Petersen fell unconscious after hitting his head on concrete which required emergency medical intervention.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages to compensate them for all general and special damages including legal interest and court costs. They claim that as a direct result of this violent attack, Rodney suffered severe bodily injuries including but not limited to his head, neck, brain along with pain and suffering among other things. Bobbie Petersen also seeks compensation for loss of consortium, services, support, affection and care.
