Irma Jordan has filed a lawsuit against a major retail corporation, alleging negligence after suffering injuries from a slip and fall incident. The complaint was filed by Irma Jordan in the 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana, on October 8, 2024, naming Wal-Mart Louisiana, L.L.C., Wal-Mart, Inc., and Wal-Mart Business Real Estate Trust as defendants.

The case stems from an incident that occurred on September 3, 2023, when Jordan visited Walmart Store Number 2706 located at 1301 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey, LA. While shopping, she unexpectedly slipped on a "clear slimy substance" on the floor that caused her to fall violently. Jordan claims this substance made the floor unreasonably slippery and dangerous. According to the petition, the store's condition posed an unreasonable risk of injury due to negligence in maintaining safe premises for customers.

Jordan's lawsuit asserts that Walmart and its affiliates are liable for general and special damages resulting from their failure to ensure customer safety. She accuses them of breaching their duty to maintain safe aisles and floors under Louisiana Civil Code Articles 2315, 2316, 2317, 2317.1, and La. R.S. 9:2800.6. The suit highlights multiple alleged failures by Walmart including not cleaning or warning patrons about hazardous conditions and failing to implement adequate inspection procedures.

Jordan seeks compensation for past and future physical pain and suffering as well as mental anguish stemming from her injuries which required extensive medical treatment for her lower back and hip pain. She is asking for damages exceeding the threshold necessary for a jury trial along with legal interest from the date of judicial demand until payment is made.

Representing Irma Jordan is attorney Subia E. Weber from The Law Offices of Subia E. Weber based in Metairie, Louisiana. The case is presided over by Judge Jay C Zainey with Case ID: 2:24-cv-02434-JCZ-MBN.
