Houston trucking company sued over accident

After a two vehicle collision in Jefferson Parish, a Houston trucking company is being sued for allegedly allowing a sleep-deprived truck driver to continue to operate its tractor-trailer.

Brett Werner and Halette Werner filed suit against Travelers Casualty and Surety Co., Garrison Distribution Inc. and Richard Garrison on Dec. 16 in federal court in New Orleans.

The two vehicle collision occurred on April 8, 2010 as Brett Werner was driving a Roto-Rooter Services truck. Werner states he was in the left lane preparing to turn unto Dickory Street and a Peterbilt truck owned by the defendant and driven by defendant Garrison was in the right lane preparing to turn onto Dickory Street.

Werner claims Garrison crossed into his lane and struck the side of his vehicle, causing him to be thrown about in his truck.

The plaintiffs are represented by Michael Hingle and Raynique Keelen-Williams of Michael Hingle & Associates in Hammond.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey is assigned to the case.
