NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a New Orleans casino for injuries she claims happened on their premises.
Annette Rigaud filed suit on March 15 against an unknown patron, Jazz Casino Company and Harrah's New Orleans Casino in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Rigaud claims she was walking down the escalator when an unknown man lost control of his balance behind her and knocked her down approximately 15 feet down the machine. The plaintiff alleges the unknown patron had been well beyond the point of visible intoxication, but continued to receive drink service from the casino.
The casino is accused of not allowing for safe entrance or exit of patrons and continuing to serve alcoholic beverages to the unknown patron in addition to allowing him to use the escalator without assistance.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for severe personal injury, bodily impairment, scarring, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, physical pain, mental anguish, medical expense.
Rigaud is being represented by Donald D. Landry of Lafayette-based Perrin, Landry, deLaunay, Dartez and Ouellet.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
