Multiple manufacturers sued after man is allegedly injured when hydraulics fail on dump truck

DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish man is suing multiple manufacturers for injuries he claims to have incurred in an accident.

George Nohra, II filed suit in the 23rd Judicial District Court on May 18 against Tenneco, Inc., Galion-Godwin Truck Body Company, Peabody International, Inc. and their insurers.

Nohra claims he was using a dump bed manufactured by the defendants between 1988 and 1992 on the back of a work truck when the hydraulics on the bed suddenly quit working and it fell, pinning him between the cab of the truck and the bed. The plaintiff asserts his leg was severely broken and he received injuries to his back, neck and body as a whole in the incident. Nohra alleges he has also filed a workers' compensation suit against Patteson Construction, LLC.

The defendants are accused of placing the hydraulic assembly in the wrong place on the truck, failing to place a window around the cylinder so its fluids could be easily checked, designing a cylinder cap that was difficult to remove and putting the cylinder in a place where the truck bed would bang into it and possibly damage it.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for personal injury, pain, suffering, grief, mental anguish, permanent disfigurement, residual disability, medical expenses, lost wages, impairment of income earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.

Nohra is being represented by Baton Rouge-based attorney John B. Lambremont.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Guy Holdridge.

Case number 103,766.
