NEW ORLEANS – A city contractor is suing the city over unpaid work for street lighting maintenance work.
Robinson Industries, Inc. filed suit against the City of New Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on July 18.
Robinson Industries claims it contracted with the city for a period of 40 months from July 1, 2007 until Oct. 31, 2010. The plaintiff alleges that although the city reviewed and approved all of their invoices over the 40 month period not all of the invoices have been paid. Robinson Industries asserts that the city still owes $1,260,667.51 for services rendered.
The defendant is accused of being indebted to the plaintiff and failing to perform on its payment obligations.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for the principal amount owed, interest due on all overdue payments, legal interest and attorney's fees.
Robinson Industries is represented by Wayne G. Zeringue of New Orleans-based Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrere & Denegre.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates.
Case no. 2012-07008.
