GRETNA – A Metairie-based law firm is suing an insurance company for allegedly not paying insurance claims on damages allegedly sustained in a hurricane.
Robert J. Caluda, The Caluda and Rebennack Law Firm, Law Offices of Robert J. Caluda and Associates, Robert J. Calusda APLC, The Caluda Law Firm and 3232 Edenborn Avenue LLC filed suit against Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, Bankers Insurance Group and Bankers Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 11.
Caluda claims he and his businesses were covered by Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, Bankers Insurance Group and Bankers Insurance Company on Aug. 29, 2012 when Hurricane Isaac struck the building and caused $73,000 worth of damages.
The plaintiff alleges that the defendants have not offered to cover any of the damages allegedly stemming from the storm damage. Caluda asserts that he is entitled to a 50 percent increase in his claim because it was not paid within 60 days of providing all information requested.
The defendants are accused of breach of contract and bad faith.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for all damages due plus fees.
Caluda is representing himself in the case.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
