Contractors sued by homeowner for allegedly completing defective work on home

Breach of contract

GRETNA – A contractor is being sued by a woman who claims her home was damaged during a renovation project.

Edna Leboyd filed suit against T/K Consultants Inc. and Timothy Kelly in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 14.

Leboyd claims that she entered into a contract with T/K Consultants Inc. and Timothy Kelly to add two rooms onto her home located at 1480 Allison St. in Gretna. The plaintiff asserts that during the course of the contract the defendants failed to perform services in a workmanlike manner and installed defective material that had to be removed and replaced and exposed the home to weather damage.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract and unfair trade practices.

Damages in the amount of $50,000 are sought for by the plaintiff for cost of repairs in addition to damages for loss of use, mental anguish, cost of cure, attorney fees and costs.

Leboyd is represented by attorney Ernest L. Jones of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
