NEW ORLEANS – An architecture and construction company are suing a public relations firm they claim wrote defamatory emails accusing them of subjecting minority subcontractors to racial discrimination.

Woodward Design + Build LLC filed suit against Cheron Brylski and The Brylski Company in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 8.

Woodward Design claims that on June 9 a group entitled “Krewe of Truth” sent out two emails dubbed “TP Reporter Story Contributes to Airport RFP Scuttle?” to its list of subscribers. The content of the emails, written by Cheron Brylski, references a nola.com article by Robert McClendon detailing the alleged mistreatment of minority subcontractors constructing the new airport terminal at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

In these emails, Brylski allegedly refers to Woodward Design as making continual “racial and gender-based attacks” pegged at their employed minority contractors.

Woodward Design says comments made by Brylski are fabricted and constitute defamation.

Woodward Design claims its business reputation has been damaged and seeks to have the allegedly defamatory comments removed from Brylski's website and seeks to have the comments retracted.

The plaintiff is represented by Christopher K. LeMieux and Alexis K. Caughey of Blue Williams LLP.

The case has been assigned to Div. D Judge Lloyd J. Medley.

Case no. 2014-08792.
