Concert ticket sales and proceeds subject of dispute

Law money 09

GRETNA – A media organization is seeking damages claiming that a venue that it chose for an event committed defamation and did not report accurate ticket sale values.

Trendz Media Group/Trendz TV Show LLC and Sly Enterprises LLC filed a suit against SMG and the city of Kenner as owner of The Pontachartain Convention and Civic Center in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 31.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs chose to use the Pontachartain Convention and Civic Center as a venue for a concert. The suit states that following the agreement, the concert night arrived on May 31, 2013, and was attended by a near-capacity crowd. SMG and the center allegedly only reported ticket sales of 800 people, but the plaintiffs claim an 80 percent attendance rate. The plaintiffs allege the defendants only paid them net proceeds of $6,431.55, and the plaintiffs claim they were underpaid by more than $165,000.

The defendants are accused of defamation in relation to the sales of the tickets.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by David Band Jr. of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
