GRETNA – Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corp. is seeking damages after an allegedly negligent individual caused a car accident and injured a city employee.
Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corp. filed a suit against Brad Miller, Allied Sales and Service Co. Inc., and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 26.
According to the claim, city of Gretna employee James Hufft was operating a police vehicle on Williams Boulevard as an escort for a funeral procession in Kenner. The suit stated that as Hufft was approaching an intersection at Veterans Boulevard, Miller suddenly came into the intersection and struck Hufft's car. The suit states Miller was an employee of Allied Sales and Service Co. Inc. at the time of the accident, and that Hufft filed a workers' compensation claim as a result.
Miller is accused of negligence through failure to yield, keep a lookout, failure to be attentive and overall negligence.
The plaintiff is seeking reimbursement of all workers' compensation payments made or to be made on Hufft's behalf. The plaintiff is represented by Musa Rahman of Johnson, Rahman & Thomas of Baton Rouge. The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
