Law money 01

GRETNA – An insurance company is seeking damages from a River Ridge plumbing company alleging its negligence caused damage to the plaintiff's insured.

Centauri Specialty Insurance Co. filed a suit against Jeff Savoie Plumbing Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 7.

According to the claim, Stephanie Guidry, a homeowner, noticed standing water in the master bedroom closet floor of her house in July 2015. Upon further inspection, the suit states that the damages were extensive and originated from the bathroom, allegedly caused by negligently installed plumbing pipes. The suit states the pipes were installed by the defendant, and that the plaintiff paid more than $20,000 to Guidry on an insurance claim.

The defendant is accused of negligence through its failure to properly install the plumbing pipes, failure to follow standards of plumbing work and failure to take the necessary steps to avoid such problems.

The plaintiff is seeking $20.167.84 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Steven H. Watterson of Powers, Sellers, Chapoton LLP in Baton Rouge. The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
