Woman alleges she was hit by bus

Medical malpractice 09

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is seeking damages after an incident in which a bus driver allegedly caused a bus to strike the woman.

Nora Varela filed a suit against Randy Usner, Community Transit LLC and Hallmark Specialty Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 17.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was boarding a community transportation bus on Oct. 14, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while Usner, the operator of the bus, exited, he did not place the bus in park, which allegedly caused the bus to roll forward and hit the plaintiff.

Usner is accused of negligence through failure to operate the bus in a responsible manner and overall carelessness.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Stephen P. Bruno of Bruno & Bruno LLP in New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
