City of Kenner alleges driver injured employee, damaged vehicle

GRETNA – The city of Kenner is seeking damages following a car accident in which the city's car and employee were allegedly damaged.

The city of Kenner filed a suit against Lawrence Johnston and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 13.

According to the claim, Danny Gaudin, who was an employee of the plaintiff, was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 on Veterans Boulevard on July 15, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that as Gaudin was slowing down to stop, Johnston, who was driving a 1989 Buick Electric, rear-ended the plaintiff's vehicle, resulting in injuries to both Gaudin and the city's vehicle.

The defendant is accused of negligence in failing to keep his vehicle under control and failing to timely apply his brakes.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Francine Weaker of the city of Kenner. The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.
