Woman seeks damages after slip and fall at medical center

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that a puddle of water caused her to fall and be injured.

Lynette Lawson filed a suit against University Medical Center Management Corp., doing business as Interim LSU Hospital and Louisiana Children's Medical Center, doing business as LCMC Health in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was entering the Interim LSU Hospital medical office, located at 2021 Perdido St. on July 1, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that while entering the premises, the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall due to a puddle of water, injuring her hand.

The defendant is accused of negligence through allowing the condition to exist, failing to place signs warning of the condition and overall failure to remedy the situation to prevent such incidents.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. She is represented by Darleen M. Jacobs, Rene Lovelace and Michael Laborde of New Orleans. The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.
