Mediation-Arbitration Professional Systems allegedly failed to accurately appraise property following a fire

NEW ORLEANS – A man is seeking damages, claiming breach of contract following a fire in his home.

Corry Spann filed suit against Mediation-Arbitration Professional Systems Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 4.

According to the claim, the plaintiff's home sustained a fire March 19, 2013. The suit states that the defendant was the appraiser for the insurance company that the plaintiff was to receive, but through a number of actions, failed to give an accurate appraisal of the award to be distributed, failed to comply with court orders and failed to properly train its employees.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract against the plaintiff.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Joseph F. LaHatte III.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.

The Orleans Parish Civil District Court case number 2016-6543.
