Three people allege they were injured on escalator at Treasure Chest Casino

GRETNA – A group is seeking damages over claims that an escalator at a casino malfunctioned, causing them injuries.

Joyce Martin, Yolanda Colbert and Arthur Brown filed a suit against Treasure Chest Casino LLC and ABC insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 15.

According to the claim, the plaintiffs were guests at the defendant's property, located at 5050 Williams Blvd. in Kenner, on Aug. 15, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiffs suffered injuries from a malfunctioning escalator, which caused a pile up at the bottom of the stairs.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failure to maintain the premises in a safe manner and failing to warn its customers of the unsafe conditions.

The plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages. They are represented by J. Nelson Mayer IV of Valteau, Harris, Koenig and Mayer of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
