Woman claims injuries from Treasure Chest Casino slot machine

GRETNA – A woman is seeking damages from a casino, claiming that she was injured when a slot machine fell open.

Theresa Llopis filed a suit against Treasure Chest Casino LLC, doing business as Treasure Chest Casino, in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 5.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at the casino located at 5050 Williams Blvd. in Jefferson Parish when the incident occurred on Feb. 9, 2015. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when the glass door of a slot machine fell open and hit her.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to maintain the casino in a safe state for visitors.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Ryan J. Hughes and Robert T. Hughes.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
