IberiaBank seeks deficiency judgment after sale of properties

GRETNA – A Lafayette Parish bank is seeking damages from a Jefferson Parish man.

IberiaBank filed a suit against Denis Vega in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 15.

According to the claim, the defendant had mortgages for two properties that were sold at a sheriff's sale. The plaintiff alleges the sales prices were less than the appraised values of the properties, so it is seeking a deficiency judgment.

The plaintiff is seeking $80,993.09 in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Robert A. Mathis of Newman, Mathis, Brady & Spedale of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
