Woman seeks damages after alleged home invasion

NEW ORLEANS – A Natchitoches Parish woman is seeking damages after a man with an alleged history of mental illness invaded her home.

Laurie Dearman Clark filed a suit against Oliver Jerde, Janie Jerde and XYZ Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 14.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was in her New Orleans residence on Jan. 17, 2016, when her home was invaded by Oliver Jerde and items taken. The suit states that the plaintiff was forced to move and required treatment to deal with emotional issues from the incident.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Jean-Paul Layrisson and Krista M. Eleew of Scandurro and Layrisson of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
