Wedding guest at New Orleans Museum of Art claims light fixture caused fall

NEW ORLEANS – A wedding guest alleges she was injured because of a light fixture at the reception.

Barbara Hirsch filed a suit against New Orleans Museum of Art, The Travelers Indemnity Co. of Connecticut, CHL Inc., and Atain Specialty Insurance Co. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Dec. 1.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was a guest at a wedding at the New Orleans Museum of Art on Dec. 5, 2015, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to trip and fall on a lighting fixture, resulting in injuries to the plaintiff. The suit states CHL Inc. provided lighting and tables for the event.

The defendants are accused of negligence.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The plaintiff is represented by Jay M. Napolitano of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
