By Carrie Bradon | Feb 23, 2017

Edward Johnson and Drena Johnson filed a lawsuit Feb. 13 against Yunshen Lee and ABC Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the Johnsons were tenants at the 6935 Fleur de Lis, New Orleans, property they were renting from Lee. The suit states the plaintiffs were walking upstairs at the property Feb. 25, 2016, when Drena Johnson lost her footing and grabbed for the handrail but fell when there was nowhere to grab. He was hospitalized with injuries until May 22, 2016, the suit says.

The defendant is accused of negligently failing to properly maintain the property, failing to take the necessary steps to keep tenants safe and overall negligence.

The Johnsons seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. They are represented by attorneys Jason Rogers Williams, Lewis W. Unglesby, Lance C. Unglesby and Nicole E. Burdett of Unglesby & Williams LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
