Design firm sued for incomplete contract on design of customer’s home
GRETNA – A design firm is being sued for breach of contract for allegedly failing to complete a contract to design a customer’s home. Jason Adams and Melissa Adams filed suit against Interior Motives Design & Decor Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 28. The Adamses assert they entered into a contract with Interior Motives Design & Decor Inc. to provide design for a home to be built on a property located at 3908 Edenborn in Metairie.
Boomtown Casino faces lawsuit by patron who claims disability from chair collapse
GRETNA – A local casino is being sued by a customer who claims she received disabling injuries when a chair collapsed on her leg. Elvira Washington filed suit against Gasset Chair Co., Louisiana-1 Gaming, Boomtown Belle Casino Westbank, Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. of Delaware, Boomtown Belle Casino Westbank and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 27. GRETNA – A local hospital is being sued by a woman who claims she suffered severe complications that went undiagnosed for an extended period due to blood thinning treatment for a heart condition. Naomi Sewell filed suit against Rupinderjit Dillon M.D., Daniel Morin M.D., Richard Milani M.D., Nanette LeBlanc FNP, Ochsner Clinic Foundation and Ochsner Medical Center in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 27. GRETNA – A Gretna police officer accused of injuring a motorist after rear-ending him is being sued along with his employer over the accident. BATON ROUGE – An East Baton Rouge woman is suing a local janitorial service after slipping and falling in a restroom. Ashley Verner filed suit against Jani King of Baton Rouge Janitorial Service in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 7. On May 8, 2014, Verner states that she was working at Sage Rehab and she went to use the restroom where there were not any signs posted to indicate that there was a Jani King employee cleaning the restroom.

Brothers Veterans LLC filed suit against American Zurich Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 27. Brothers Veterans asserts it is the owner of a gas station located at 6600 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie that was covered by a property insurance policy provided by American Zurich Insurance Company.

NEW ORLEANS – Xavier University of Louisiana is being sued by a woman who owns a piece of property neighboring the university’s campus claiming it developed a building on her property without her permission. Leola Williams filed suit against Xavier University of Louisiana in Orleans Parish District Court on April 10. Williams claims that in 2014 the defendant constructed a building as well as a fence, which gradually moved onto her property.

GRETNA – A Marrero homeowner is suing his property insurer for allegedly not covering hail damage to his home. Damian Ortiz filed suit against United Fire and Indemnity Company in the 24th Judicial District Court. Ortiz contends he owns a home located at 5145 Mount Revard Court in Marrero that was covered by a property insurance contract provided by United Fire and Indemnity Company.
