Homeowners sue flooring company claiming defective flooring job

By Kyle Barnett | May 9, 2012

DONALDSONVILLE – An Acension Parish couple have filed suit against a Metairie-based flooring company they contracted for their new home.

Chad and Dana Montgomery filed suit on May 8 against Floorco in Walker LLC in the 23rd Judicial District Court.

The Montgomerys claim Floorco was contracted to put ceramic and wood floors in their new home constructed in St. Amant and that the finished job was defective. The plaintiffs claim the flooring is loose and coming up and the defendant refused a warranty. The defendants are accused of breach of contract under the New Home Warranty Act.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought by the plaintiffs that would require the defendant to reduce the price of the flooring and pay for their attorney's fees.

The Montgomerys are being represented by attorney Donnie L. Floyd of Prairieville.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Jessie Leblanc.

Case number 103659.
