Construction foreman sues Jefferson Parish after falling down manhole

GRETNA – Jefferson Parish is being sued by a construction foreman who was allegedly seriously injured after a manhole hatch slammed on his head causing him to fall 30 feet down a manhole. Shane Salathe filed suit against The Parish of Jefferson, through the Department of Sewerage, in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 1. Salathe alleges he was working as a foreman for Fleming Construction Company on a contract with Jefferson Parish to repair lift stations.

Repair of fire damaged Marrero home results in breach of contract lawsuit

GRETNA – A contracting company is suing a pair of Marrero homeowners claiming they did not pay for remediation work following a fire. Claims Consulting and Contracting LLC filed suit against Eugene Pizani and Tammy Pizani in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 1. Claims Consulting and Contracting says it provided $5,249.04 in repair work to the Pizanis for fire damage that occurred to their home at 3844 Jamie Lynn Drive in Marrero.

NEW ORLEANS – Two weeks after a man serving time in prison on fraud charges was accused of defrauding the Deepwater Horizon claims center of $3 million, the law firm representing him has withdrawn as his counsel. In late May two Port Arthur, Texas seafood companies, Alliance & Associates LLC and Crystal Seafood Company, were accused of filing fraudulent claims with the BP settlement fund worth a combined $3.16 million.

GRETNA – A design firm is being sued for breach of contract for allegedly failing to complete a contract to design a customer’s home. Jason Adams and Melissa Adams filed suit against Interior Motives Design & Decor Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 28. The Adamses assert they entered into a contract with Interior Motives Design & Decor Inc. to provide design for a home to be built on a property located at 3908 Edenborn in Metairie.

Elvira Washington filed suit against Gasset Chair Co., Louisiana-1 Gaming, Boomtown Belle Casino Westbank, Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. of Delaware, Boomtown Belle Casino Westbank and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 27. Ashley Verner filed suit against Jani King of Baton Rouge Janitorial Service in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 7. BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office has again hired a list of political allies for help with an antitrust lawsuit brought against Pfizer which mirrors similar actions taken against several other pharmaceutical companies.
