A state panel taking a closer look at law enforcement practices recently endorsed removing some litigation protections a controversial law afforded law enforcement.
After investigations by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD), the owners and operators of a family of 11 restaurants with common ownership in Louisiana have paid $230,877 in back wages and an equal amount in liquidated damages to 141 employees for violating the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) minimum wage, overtime, and recordkeeping requirements.

NEW ORLEANS – Two Plaquemine businesses have filed a lawsuit against a construction company and a transporting company, alleging the companies neglected to pay their balance.
BATON ROUGE – A local bowling alley is being sued for allegedly failing to pay a local advertising company fees in 2014. Lamar Advertising of Louisiana filed suit against The Italian Bowl LLC in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 8. The plaintiff claims that the defendant entered into an agreement with Lamar Advertising to pay $10,400 for advertising work on Aug. 15, 2014.
DONALDSONVILLE – An Ascension Parish woman is suing the trailer park where she lives claiming a bridge into the park collapsed under her car as she was going over it.
